BritPak: Difference Through Enterprise

Creating an Institution of positive contribution to the UK, and for British Pakistanis

Welcome to our August 2017 edition of the Indus Club newsletter #7

Pakistan Independence Day Greetings and Congratulations!

Following the recent election, the political environment is still fluid at home in the UK. The PM is again finding her feet after appointing a new cabinet. Labour are confident after the strong election result in June.
Brexit will be the main issue for the next few months, as complications arise...
Indus Club hopes integrity and principles return to our political spectrum.
Cricket has been exciting all summer with Pakistan becoming world beaters in the Champions Trophy after starting badly, they thrashed arch rivals India by a record 180 runs. England have just completed the test series v South Africa, winning 3-1 and the star performer being BritPak Moeen Ali with both bat and ball - now proving to be an invaluable player. Moeen keeps setting/breaking all sorts of records. What a fab role model for BritPaks making a positive and meaningful impact in every match. Sir Mo Farah has become our greatest athlete of all time. At the time of writing he has again won the 10,000 M gold medal at the World Championships and qualified for the final of the 5,000 M. Best wishes Mo!
The football season has started and the premier league looks both exciting and competitive.
It seems like British Pakistanis have represented British National teams more than people originating from any other country. We should be proud of the contribution we make to the UK, and find ways to improve this further in other fields. Just as importantly such achievements should be celebrated and communicated (a key plank for the existence of Indus Club).
On a personal level I'm delighted and honoured to have become winner of Bradford Business Personality of the Year in July. Hopefully a further recognition of the contribution made by the BritPak community in the UK.
